KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.49 g, 12 h), Pella, circa 342/1-337/6. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ-ΠΟΥ Young jockey, holding palm frond in his right hand and reins in his left, riding horse to right; below horse, vertical thunderbolt; in exergue, N. Le Rider 212 (D122'/R172). SNG ANS 380-3. SNG Fitzwilliam 2037 (same dies). Beautifully toned, nicely centered and with a very elegant head of Zeus of excellent style. Very light doubling and faint scratches on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
